Demand for antivirus programmes jumps thanks to COVID-19 virus
MOSCOW, Jun 16 (PRIME) -- Russians have bought more antivirus software during the lockdown than usual, producers of cybersecurity software and electronics retailers told PRIME on Tuesday.
“As the infection spread across the world, we noticed rising demand for antivirus programs and other products to ensure security,” said Alexei Fyodorov, head of Avast in Russia and the CIS.
An M.Video-Eldorado Group spokesperson said that a massive transfer of people to remote work and online education boosted demand for computer equipment and additional accessories for the home office.
“In April–May, online sales of antivirus programs in the group tripled, and the sales of laptops in April spiked by seven times. The sales peaked during the first three weeks of the lockdown, from the last week of March till the first half of April,” the retailer’s spokesperson said.
